P. Lankesh

P. Lankesh, born on March 9, 1935, in Konagavalli, Shivamogga District in the state of Karnataka, India, was an acclaimed journalist, award-winning film director and professor of English Literature. His is known for starting Lankesh Patrike, a Kannada Weekly, in 1980.His articles in this magazine appealed to Kannadiga minds and the Weekly was an instant hit. He is the recipient of Best Director Award for his debut film, Pallavi, in the year 1977 at the National Film Awards. He died in 2000.
